Jean Paul KALA

Born in the easter Democratic Republic of Congo, North Kivu, Jean Paul KALA discovered metal welding and shaping at an early age. Taking this love for metal work to a whole new level throughout his career, KALA moved to Belgium in the 2000s to continue refining his skills, garnering much respect and admiration amongst his peers for his innovative designs.

A precurser to abstract art, Rowandan Imigongo is clearly an influence on KALA, as the traditional colors of red, black, and white are often used. Strong and emblimatic themes of spirals and geometric designs have graced walls, pottery and canvases since the 18th century.

KALA currently creates his artin Belgium.
